About the author

After an academic and social services career, Carol Eckhardt writes in southeast Wyoming where she has been a rancher, wool spinner and watcher of weather. She currently divides her time between a small historic community and the northwest coast.
"If you love reading about the lives of real people, set in the authentic rural west, you will enjoy this read. Ms. Eckhardt knows of what she writes, both the people and the places. I recommend picking up this book, finding a comfortable chair and be transported to Wyoming's vast almost empty land and the folks who live there."

About Anna's place

Anna Royer and her daughter Elizabeth are haunted by the raw Wyoming landscape they left behind years before. Their memories of the immensity of sky, the breadth of distance, the demons of weather and spirits of the "Old Ones" conspire to draw them back to see what remains of their life there. What they find confronts them with confusion and death and changes their lives forever.

ABout Homing

In the second of the Bear Valley series, Anna Royer and her daughter Elizabeth abandon successful professional lives to restore the derelict ranch homestead that shaped their early lives. The Spirit of the land, its wild and human residents, and the very live "ghosts" challenge the idyllic lifestyle they intend to build. The same Spirit moves in the neighboring Kennedy and Adams families as they confront inevitable death and change.

About Echoes

In the third of the Bear Valley series, the evolving contemporary lives of the Royer and Harter families and their neighbors echo those of the early homesteaders as they confront the challenges of the weather, the isolation and hardships of ranch life as well as their own failings with their sometimes fatal consequences.
